Clinical Staff

A focus of the Voluntary Services Team is to take requests on how CPFTs Volunteers can support your services during the COVID-19 situation. We encourage you to get in touch with us at: Volunteers.cpft@cpft.nhs.uk to explore and develop specific roles that volunteers could do to support you, and your team during this time.

Current Opportunities

Dementia Carers Support Service

The Dementia Carers’ Support Service is a service that provides support to carers of people with dementia at specific times during their caring journey. Volunteers with a lived experience of dementia care will be linked to current carers. These experienced volunteers act as a be-friender or buddy to create a professional relationship to support those who are current dementia carers. Please email us for more info.

Neighbourhood Teams

The Neighbourhood Teams (NTs) are the physical and mental-health care hub of the local community for over 65-year olds and adults requiring community services.

Patient Feedback: Finding out what people think of the services and care they receive. You will listen to and learn from the views and experiences of patients, both positive and negative, so that we can ensure that patients are involved in planning, evaluating, and improving the quality of services. Volunteers are required to help in assisting with capturing patients views through surveys, to help improve services and patient care. Take a look at the Role Description here

Attend Anywhere Support: Providing virtual (via digital device), practical, emotional support to patients discharged from hospital. The Voluntary Services Team have identified an opportunity to actively engage with, and coach service users to develop skills that allow them to use technology to support their care. Social Media Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to help CPFTs Voluntary Services connect with people on social media. Our social media will be centred on the stories of our patients, volunteers and the staff who support them.We need someone who can help us to communicate our work and engage the support of people living in Cambridgeshire and Fenland. Take a look at our Role Description here. We have 2 vacancies for this role. Should we have multiple volunteers apply we will be holding an informal discussion to chat through this opportunity.

Journey Makers

Ely train station are working with Volunteering Matters and are looking for volunteers to deliver a short-term project to restore commuter confidence in accessing public transport in-line with the new announcements around safe travel measures. Take a look here.

Heart and Soul Listeners 

The Heart and Soul listening service is a collaboration between Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust and the Diocese of Ely in response to the Covid-19 emergency, building on our current approach to providing support for people in need. The service is available for anybody who is struggling with, or caring for somebody with a mental or physical health condition, or suffering with loneliness or bereavement. Other Resources

Volunteer Responder Service

NHS organisations are being encouraged to start using "GoodSAM" an NHS Volunteer Responder service to support patients at the highest clinical risk from coronavirus. Requests for support for individuals or organisations can be made by any health professional and from local authorities via the NHS Volunteer Responders referrers’ portal. You can also call 0808 196 3382 to refer patients. This guidance will be extended and updated regularly on the NHS England and NHS Improvement website.  The community responders are working in four main ways;

  • Community Response volunteer: This role involves collecting shopping, medication or other essential supplies for someone who is self-isolating, and delivering these supplies to their home.
  • Patient Transport volunteer: This role supports the NHS by providing transport to patients who are medically fit for discharge, and ensuring that they are settled safely back in to their home.
  • NHS Transport volunteer: This role involves transporting equipment, supplies and/or medication between NHS services and sites, it may also involve assisting pharmacies with medication delivery.
  • Check-in and Chat volunteer: This role provides short-term telephone support to individuals who are at risk of loneliness as a consequence of self-isolation.
