Into the Dragon's Den for Amanda

Student health visitor wins £2000

Into the Dragon's Den for Amanda
24 August 2012

Amanda Godfrey, a CPFT student health visitor, recently won £2000 in a special “dragon’s den” competition at a regional health visiting conference in Peterborough. Five students were invited to pitch their ideas to a panel of “dragons” at the event. Amanda’s project to improve dental hygiene in the under-fives population in Peterborough won the competition and the money will help support her project. Amanda presented costings for a small pilot in the central ward of the city where all children would receive a non-branded toothbrush and paste to encourage tooth brushing and good dental hygiene. She will also link this to local dentists within the area to ensure children are registered and receiving six-monthly check-ups. Congratulations to Amanda who has shown herself to be a very competent and capable student!
