Dementia carers enjoy Christmas party
09 December 2014

More than 60 carers, volunteers, friends and staff enjoyed a Christmas party in Fulbourn on 6 December put on by CPFT's Dementia Carers' Support Service.

Father Christmas was there, along with other entertainment and plenty of festive food and activities.

One of those who attended was Frank, who was there with wife Barbara. He said: "Barbara and I would like to thank all the helpers for a very enjoyable party. The huge amount of preparation that must have been involved is very much appreciated, as was the chance to dance with such charming and talented partners. The food was excellent and the organisation unsurpassed. It was also a privilege to sit and chat with Father Christmas, who I had not met for years."

The Dementia Carers' Support Service is an innovative project that aims to link former carers with current carers of people with dementia to offer regular and consistent support as a befriender or buddy.

These experienced dementia carers support volunteers will be able to utilise and share their extensive hands on knowledge and skills. They will have time to listen, give practical advice and help to signpost services in the community when needed. This service is available throughout the journey of the caring role.
