Young people's team celebrates first birthday
23 August 2013

The youngest addition to the acute service is celebrating its 1st birthday! What an amazing year it’s been, too! The Intensive Support Team was set up in September/October 2012 to address the needs of young people and their families when difficulties reach such a point that admission may be considered. The service offers an enhanced level of support within the community environment rather than within a hospital setting and covers Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The service works to support the community teams with young people who may either be difficult to engage with, at a time of increased difficulty, or who are new to community services and may be experiencing difficulty at a time when they are not yet engaged with the local team. We also try to support patients with the earliest possible return to their home environment following a needed in-patient admission.

Communication with the local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service teams and in-patient units has been vital as we strive to be part of a seamless experience for the young people and carers who are needing to access and use mental health services within CPFT. We would like to say a big thank you to all the people who have helped us develop this amazing part of the service that can be offered to young people at a time of difficulty.
