Nominations needed for CPFT Governor Elections 2013

Nominations are now being invited ahead of elections to find new governors to join Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT).

CPFT provides mental health and specialist learning disability services across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, together with children’s community services in Peterborough.

Vacancies are available on CPFT’s Council of Governors in the following key areas:
• Those who will represent the public
• Those who will represent carers and people who use CPFT services
• Staff who will represent the views of CPFT colleagues

Governors play an important role in guiding and informing the work done at CPFT and making sure that the views of members are taken into account.

The role of the Council of Governors is to:
• Appoint the Chair and Non-Executive Directors of CPFT and approve the appointment of the Chief Executive
• Be consulted on plans for changes to CPFT services
• Be consulted about areas of special interest
• Feedback the views and suggestions of members to CPFT
• Receive information to keep up-to-date with the work of CPFT
• Have a term of office for three years with up to a maximum of nine years

The deadline for nominations is Wednesday 8 May 2013.

Applicants must be members of CPFT before standing as a governor. Details on becoming a member can be found at www.cpft.nhs.uk along with more information about the role of a governor.

After nominations are received, elections to join the Council of Governors will take place between 27 May 2013 and 27 June 2013.
