First participant recruited to 'Delivery of Cognitive therapy for Young People after Trauma' study

First participant recruited to DECRYPT study
16 November 2017

The first child has been recruited into the DECRYPT study. Congratulations and thanks to Kostis Tsoumpris, Mental Health Practitioner from CAMHS CORE South Team who made the referral.

DECRYPT is a randomised controlled trial looking at Cognitive Therapy for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in young people exposed to multiple traumatic stressors. CPFT is one of the recruitment sites.

This will be the first UK randomised controlled trial (RCT) to look at improving care for children and young people with PTSD in NHS settings.

This trial is funded by NIHR and led by the University of East Anglia. The study will compare usual care (“treatment as usual” to a psychological therapy called Cognitive Therapy for PTSD (CTPTSD). It will also aim to understand more about clients’ and staff’s perceptions of PTSD and its treatment.

If you would like more information about the trial, including eligibility criteria, please contact: Katherine.Cummergen@cpft.nhs.uk. A link to the study information is here.
